It's now 2010 and we are still searching for Brian Shaffer. On 4/1/2010, it will be FOUR years since Brian was last seen at the Ugly Tuna Saloona on High Street in Columbus, Ohio.

During my search for Brian, I am constantly overwhelmed by the amount of people who do seem to disappear into thin air. I post for projectjason.org and I am shocked by the number of missing that go missing for long lengths of times, with no leads, no information. This leaves families in turmoil, with no answers, continual theories and pain that is unbearable.

Many of my friends do not understand my interest in the missing. My best explanation is that not one of us is immune. It could be me tomorrow, or my aunt, or my cousin, or my best friend. I try to contribute my time and help so that possibly, one less family will suffer.

I ask that you review www.findbrianshaffer.com. Look at his picture. Read his case. Spread it to others. Brian's biggest advocate was killed in September 2008. Who will lead the cause to find Brian??? Will we ever find him???

Brian Shaffer is STILL missing - 3 years on April 1, 2009

I hate to have to write that the 3 year anniversary of Brian Shaffer's disappearance is quickly approaching, and I feel we are no closer to a resolution than we were the day he disappeared. 2008 was not kind to this case. On 9/14/08, we lost the biggest advocate for Brian's case. His father, Randy, was killed in a tragic accident when he was struck by a tree and killed.

Needless to say, this has definitely affected everyone involved in Brian's case, including myself. After meeting Randy and understanding his deepest desire, to find answers to his son's disappearance, we know what Randy would have expected from each of us....to continue the search for his son and for the answers surrounding his disappearance.

In Ohio, there are over 1,000 missing persons. That means that 1,000 suffering families in our state alone. It is important to know that NO ONE IS IMMUNE FROM THIS PROBLEM. It could be your mother, your son, your nephew, your friend or God forbid, yourself.

Please visit www.findbrianshaffer.com to find out more information on Brian's case.

If ANYONE knows ANYTHING about Brian's disappearance, please report it immediately to CrimeStoppers at 1-877-645-TIPS.

Missing From Ohio...

"28 year old - missing medical student from Columbus, Ohio" is the headline...you've seen similar ones many times before. We've all heard similar headlines many times before it almost seems like the norm.

I heard of the story of the missing OSU medical student in April 2006, days after he went missing. Brian Shaffer's picture was displayed on our local news and his picture captured my attention. Second year medical student, girlfriend..disappearing 2 days before a planned vacation....I wondered what happened and prayed for the best. I continued to follow the story and I was shocked to realize that it appeared this man had just 'vanished'.

Call me silly but I just did NOT realize that this could happen in 2006. With all the technology in this day and age including cell phones, gps, videos, it just doesn't seem possible. But it appears this is what has happened in Brian's case and so many others just like Brian. After spending hundreds of hours searching for answers on Brian's case, one thing has become painfully obvious....Brian is by far not the only person to have 'vanished'. It appears it's happening everywhere...in every state, every city....people (adults and children) are vanishing, disappearing, leaving without a trace.

Take the state of Ohio alone....let's guess how many 'missing' people there are.....100? 300? 500? 700? no my friends....over 1,000 missing persons (adults and children) in the state of Ohio alone. I HOPE this shocks you as much as it shocks me.

How many of these cases have you heard of? Let me start with a small list and see how many you recognize from http://www.ohiomissingadults.com/?

Alan James Wunderle - missing since 02/06/08
Anthony James Dennard - missing since 08/13/07
Robert Franklin Ebright - missing since 07/20/07
Anthony Foster Pierce - missing since 06/22/07
Chloe Ellen Travis - missing since 06/13/07
Thach Nguyen - missing since 04/20/07
Raymond Sweeney - missing since 04/16/07
James Roy Bridenstine Jr. - missing since 01/24/07
Marlon T. Riddle - missing since 01/06/07
Willie Charles Standberry Sr. - missing since 12/08/06
Nicole Ceglie - missing since 10/22/06
Jesse Howard Flaugher - missing since 10/02/06
Kenneth L. Staples - missing since 08/31/06
Neal Louis Boware - missing since 07/24/06
Oliver J. Klar - missing since 04/12/06
BRIAN RANDAL SHAFFER - missing since 04/01/06

There are so many missing in Ohio even the website is not up-to-date with all the cases.

All of these cases have been AFTER Brian's disappearance, yet I did not recognize one name other than his. How is this the case? Why is each of these cases not as publicized as the other well known cases such as Natalee Holloway or Lisa Stebic's cases. Is it that the community and public doesn't care about each missing person or is it that we just don't realize the epidimic that is occurring?

Just this week, Ashley Howley, missing since 2004 was found in Franklin County. The search is over but the pain is no less for the family. May she rest in peace.

If you want to see how alarming this issue is nationwide, take a look at National Center for Missing Adults (NCMA) - http://www.theyaremissed.org/ and National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCME) - http://www.missingkids.com/. Project Jason (http://www.projectjason.org/) is also a source of great information on the missing.

Please also take a moment tonight and view http://www.findbrianshaffer.com/. Read his case and I believe it will help you see each of these cases are important and are 'real'...with real pain, real tears and in need of the 'real' answers.
